Partial & Full Dentures

Partial & Full Dentures

Losing teeth can be difficult to experience. Fortunately, Hale Family Dental offers partial and full dentures as a solution to tooth loss. Dentures can give you back your smile and allow you to keep enjoying your favorite foods.

Tooth loss doesn’t just affect your smile; it can also change the bone structure in your jaw. When an adult tooth is lost, the jawbone will deteriorate and cause sagging or an indent in the cheek. Tooth loss can also cause:

  • Sensitivity in the mouth

  • Risk of gum disease

  • Trouble eating or speaking

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are a great option for those who are missing one or more teeth in the upper or lower jaw. They consist of artificial teeth fixed to a pink or gum-colored base, with a metal framework and spaces for natural teeth.

Full Dentures

Those who are missing all their teeth may consider full dentures. Full dentures are a complete set of artificial teeth set into a gum-colored base. There are two kinds of complete dentures: conventional and immediate. Conventional dentures are made after all teeth have been removed. They are ready for use after about eight to twelve weeks, allowing time for the gum tissue to heal. Immediate dentures are made ahead of time so they can be worn immediately after all teeth have been removed.

What is the process for getting dentures?

  • First your dentist will examine your mouth and consult with you on whether partial or full dentures are the best course of action.

  • Your teeth will be cleaned and extracted, if necessary, and then your dentist will make a mold and take measurements of your mouth, so the denture fit is optimal.

  • While the dentures are created in a dental lab, you may be given temporary dentures to wear in the interim.

  • When your custom dentures are complete, you’ll visit your dentist again to have them fitted, make necessary adjustments, and go over proper denture care.
