Dental Implants, Crowns, Bridges, and Fillings

If you have cavities, chipped teeth, or missing teeth, you may benefit from the cosmetic services we offer at Hale Family Dental.

Dental implants

One of the best solutions for missing teeth are dental implants. These are a permanent solution to missing teeth. Unlike dentures, they can’t be removed, so they look, act, and feel just like natural teeth.

When getting a dental implant, your dentist will first place a titanium post where the tooth should be. This acts as a tooth root, and after 6-12 weeks, your jawbone will heal and grow around the post. Then, your dentist will place a connector piece on the post, called an abutment, and your new artificial tooth will be placed on top of that.

Crowns

If you have a cavity that is too big for a filling, or a damaged tooth, a crown could be a great option for you. A crown is a cover that goes over the existing tooth which looks just like your regular tooth. Your dentist will make an impression of your existing tooth so that the crown looks and feels natural.

Bridges

A dental bridge is another option if you are missing one or more teeth. It consists of an artificial tooth or teeth, connected to two crowns placed on top of natural, healthy teeth on either side to “bridge” the gap. Bridges can be made of a variety of materials, but the most common is porcelain because it blends in best with your natural teeth.

Fillings

Fillings are most commonly used to fix cavities, but they can also repair a damaged tooth. When getting a filling, your dentist will numb the area around the tooth. He or she will use a drill to remove the decayed parts, which will then be replaced with the filling.
