Dental Implants
At Hale Family Dental, we offer dental implant treatments. A recent advancement in dental care, dental implants can replace teeth that have been lost due to injury, infection, tooth decay or if you were born without a tooth. If you have missing teeth or a tooth that needs to be extracted, consider filling that empty space with a dental implant.
Your dentist or oral surgeon will begin by numbing the area and giving you anesthesia. Once it’s numb, they will insert a titanium post into the empty space. After allowing the bone tissue and titanium post to naturally fuse together (about 3 to 6 months), your dentist will place an abutment on the titanium post. The abutment is used to securely connect the post and the artificial tooth. Last, the artificial tooth is placed on the abutment. This artificial tooth is created from impressions of your teeth, and it is made to look just like the rest of your teeth and fit flush into your natural bite. Nobody will be able to tell that you have an implant.
Dental implants have many advantages compared to bridges and dentures. They are more comfortable and look more natural, because the titanium post essentially becomes your new tooth root. Soon after the procedure you won’t even notice a difference. You can talk to friends and eat the foods you love without worrying about mumbled words or slipping dentures. Your oral health can improve because the implant does not depend upon other teeth to support it, like a dental bridge does. With proper brushing and flossing habits, dental implants can last a lifetime.
